Microsoft to remove Get Windows 10 app

One of the major headaches for computers running Windows 7 and Windows 8 is the “Get Windows 10 app,” also known as GWX. Sometimes, it prompts the user to start the upgrade to Windows 10 and gives options like “Start the upgrade now” and “Schedule it tonight.”
This means that users cannot cancel the upgrade, and there is no straightforward way to schedule or cancel it. However, since the free upgrade offer is valid until July 29th of this year, users will need to pay for the upgrade afterward. Microsoft has stated that the option to upgrade to Windows 10 will eventually be disabled and removed from PCs worldwide, although this process may take some time to complete. This information is reported by Winbeta.
Details are still being finalized, but on July 29th, the Get Windows 10 app that facilitates the easy upgrade to Windows 10 will be disabled and eventually removed from PCs worldwide. Just as it took time to ramp up and roll out the Get Windows 10 app, it will take time to ramp it down.
That means it’s good news for Windows 7 and 8 users that they won’t be nagged to upgrade to Windows 10. Personally, I haven’t encountered any issues with Windows 10 from the start, but there are reasons why people don’t wish to upgrade.
Although there is no comment on whether the free upgrade offer would be extended, only time will tell.
